Star Trek: Cold Frontier [Pt.1]

Post by Darcrida on Sat Mar 05, 2011 3:28 am

The USS Frontier NCC-172342 is a Federation Starship, Union Class (imagine it as a Type 2 Sovereign) patroling the Cardassian/Federation border. Tensions between the Cardassians, Klingons and Federation have been torn in places expecially after the Dominion War. The Romulans are wrecked after the war with only a number of ships left. Races such as the Breen, Tzenkethi and Son'a have retreated into the own space and locked there borders. The Frontier is called out to assist a delecate assignment with the Teposian ambassador however on there way to Tepos they encounter a Breen Warship.
"Raise shields!", called Captain Wallace.
The ship shakes and rumbles as energy blasts hit there engines and weapon ports.
"Arm Quantum Torpedos and fire!", ordered the Captain.
"We've taken damage to are weapons sir!", Lieutenant Crawley shouted over the noise of the of crackling fire that had now sparked up all over the bridge.
"Take us to warp 7 and get us out of here", Commander Revent ordered.
"Taking us to.." Ensign Vrok had no time to finish his sentence before the engines were nocked out and he was killed.
"Send out a destress signal", the Captain demanded.
"We're been hailed", Lieuntenant Crawley said.
"On screen".
The viwer flcikerd into life showing the face of a Son'a.
"I am commander Draxion of the Son'a-Breen alliance. Surrender you and your vessel to us and you will not be harmed."

to be continued...

[Sorry this is not so long i was pushed for time so i promise the next will be much longer]

NCC-172342? that 27th Century Era Ship registry. For the Post Dominion War Pre Nemesis, NCC registry, try the 72,000 to 75,000 area.

Also if this is directly after the Dominion War, Diplomatic relations between the Romulans & Klingons has never been better. And yeah as you portray them to be the Cardassians kinda suck at this time.

On the Attack, how does a Ships Weapons & Engines take damage while the shields are Online, You make it out that all Weapons are off-line, that's kinda impossible in the Opening Salvo, a Sovereign has I think 24 Weapons Hard Points, so if this a Type II Sovereign, So if all weapons were knocked out in the Opening Salvo,. this is a downgrade not an upgrade.

This is a Breen/Son'a alliance so weapons could be stronger on there ships but if this isnt the case then there are quite a few problems with your story.

Ok this is my version of the story.

The USS Frontier NCC-1704 is a Federation Starship, Union Class (imagine it as a Type 2 Sovereign) patroling the Cardassian/Federation border. The Cardassians have only half a dozen planets under there control now and the Federation relations with them is dented. Klingon-Romulan relations however have never been better.
"Shields down to 85%!", Lieutenant Crawley shouted over the noise of the of crackling fire that had now sparked up all over the bridge.
"Fire phasers and target there shield generators", Commander Revent ordered.
"There shields are only down to 96% sir" Ensign Vrok said.
"Ours are at 60%", the Ensign exclaimed.
"We're been hailed", Lieuntenant Crawley said.
"On screen".
The viwer flcikerd into life showing the face of a Son'a.
"I am commander Draxion of the Son'a-Breen alliance. Surrender you and your vessel to us and you will not be harmed."
"We're not surrendering to you yet Draxion", the Captain shouted.
"Very well", Draxion said as the screen flickerd back to the Breen ship and energy strikes hit the ship.

Well Star Trek Shields are weird, and when hit by Energy based weapons, It''s spread across the ships systems, via the shield system, sometimes this is helpful, some times it not, and blows stuff up, like... Consoles.

That's not Cannon, but an easy Explanation.... ish.

yeah there was theory as to why dure in the dominion-federation battles in DS9 shields didnt apear to up which was due to the ship proximity.

No in DS9 it was Two main reason, the first, was the people who were making these things, forgot to actually add Shields, so that's falls under VFX error. the 2ed, was that the ships you see getting easy destroyed by the Dominion Polaron beam weapons, are TOS/TMP era vessels.

Meaning that there shields are gonna get easily taken down by the advanced Dominion weapons, if you notice in the same scenes the Galaxy Classes, Akira, ect steam roll throw the battles taking hit after hit, there's one battle, Chintoka i think ware a Galaxy takes atleast 20 hits by the Beam weapons before being destroyed. Considering these Weapons at Chintoka can easy take down an TMP vessel in one shot, this makes the Galaxy an Strong SOB.

Now many Fans who hate the galaxy call this VFX errors, it kinda is, but the producers made it Cannon. So it's Cannon of sorts.

well my theory was kind non-canon but yeah. You'd think that they'd remember to add shields.

Well back then the people who did the VFX didn't actually know what Star Trek was most of the time. and they were always on good terms wither.
